Here at ABI we like to think that making holiday memories is as big a part of our job as making holiday homes! That’s why, last year, we decided to renovate a 1970s ABI model AND create a brand new model to bring to The Caravan & Camping Show 2014!
Back in 1978, when the Sierra Supreme was brand new, people were wearing flares, a loaf of bread cost 28p and The Bee Gees were still in the charts; but over the years this holiday home had sadly been neglected and was in need of a little TLC. Given that this ABI had once provided many happy holiday memories we felt it was only right to give it the care and attention needed to return it to its former glory! So we worked hard over the winter renovating and restoring to have it ready in time for unveiling at the Show.
We’ve said before that meeting customers is always the highlight of our shows – and the presence of the Sierra Supreme added a new dimension! Stepping into our retro van is like stepping back to 1978 – and everybody who saw it wanted to share their holiday memories! We had parents reminiscing about childhood holidays in homes like our Sierra, and it was touching to see these memories being shared with the children at the Show. We’re sure the children looking round our retro van, who had never seen anything like it before, won’t forget their visit in a hurry!
You can see more images of our retro ABI here, it might even evoke some holiday memories of your own!
Our second big feature at the Show was The Hartfield – our brand new holiday home – and one in which we hope memories will be made for years to come! We set out to create a space that lets everyone just relax and enjoy their time away, and if feedback from the show was anything to go by we succeeded! It’s one of our favourite designs yet, with a unique layout that allows all the family to be together whether eating, cooking, playing board games or even watching TV – after all family time is at the heart of all our favourite holiday memories.
You can find out more about The Hartfield here.
We’d like to thank everyone who joined us – we hope you have as many great memories of the show as we have!
And, whether you made it to the show or not, don’t forget to tell us about your own holiday memories, past and present, on our Facebook or Twitter pages – we really love hearing from you. Our social media pages are also the place to keep updated on future events!
